AS il il Grads, Remembrance Day make for a busy week in Cartwright On Thursday morning, Nov. 11 an impressive Remembrance Day Service was held at the Recreation Centre followed by the marching to the Cenotaph for the time of remembrance and laying of wreaths there. A very large crowd including veterans and citizens of all ages attended the service in which MPP John O'Toole, Mayor D. Moffatt, Councillor David Dietlein, Rev. David Sherman and Rev. Hugh Kernohan participated. It was disappointing to see the lack of respect shown by the passing traffic through- out the outdoor service. Surely a few minutes of stop- ping would not have been missed at the end of the day. Last Sunday at the Blackstock United Church a veteran, Mr. Fred Skyvington, from Port Perry spoke to the Sunday School greatly impressing the young people. On Friday evening follow- ing the Graduation Dinner at the Recreation Centre a large crowd gathered at the Cartwright Central Public School for the annual Commencement Exercises of the CHS. - O'Canada, Following Invocation was given by Jada MacLeod followed by Principal Tim Taylor's remarks. Julie Obstfeld, Prime Minister of Students' Council and Bobbie Drew, local trustee each brought messages of congratulations to the graduates. Proficiency prizes were presented as follows: Grade 9 - Laura Batterink; 10 - Corinna Bauer; 11 - Becky Barnhoorn; 12 - Julie Obstfeld;, OAC - Adam Walhout.
