The brilliant new lights are focussed on the recently-purchased grand piano and the gleaming hardwood plat- form floor. A few months ago the church choir spearhead- ed a fundraising drive to pay for the grand piano and renovations. Now anxious to show off the new acquisitions, the choir is bringing to the community an evening concert of instrumental and choral music sure to please the young and young-at-heart. "We want to show what we've done. It's a celebration of our renova- tions," said choir presi- dent Mary Holt. Performing guests include Jazz Injection, the Port Perry High School senior jazz band, under the direction of Rory Snider-McGrath. And, of course, the Port Perry United Church choir will be singing several choral selections. As organist with the church for 28 years, Glenn Taylor promises A Grand Event will be a night of music you will not soon forget. "It will be a dream come true, to perform for you," he said. Tickets, at $10 per person or $20 per family, are available at the door on a first come, first served basis. Refreshments will be served following the con- cert. All proceeds from the evening will go towards the ongoing sup- port of the choir. Seventh-Star Productions presents "Fawlty Towers: The Builders," where Sybil Fawlty (Dorothy Partridge) trusts Basil (Michael Wood) with set- ting up a simple work contract and Polly (Cathy Christoff) leaves Manuel (Francois Bessay) in charge of the hotel for an afternoon. Also appearing will be Stewart Bennett, Norman Balfour, and Lesley Saringer and spe- cial guests Tyler Currington, Terry Porter, Dayton Noble, Richard Forkum, and Alan Williams. Special music group for the evening is Combo number 5, a swing jazz ensemble featuring Jon stage Friday night Grove on piano, Tiffany Grove on flute and piano, Dustin Wood on bass, Jeff Moore on drums and Kat Yourkevich on alto saxo- phone. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free but a suggested donation ($5) is asked at the door to help support the Royal Canadian Legion.
