The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Sept. 3 on Hwy. 7A near the junc- tion with Regional Rd. 57 near Blackstock in clear sunny road condi- tions. O.P.P. said that a 1988 Dodge driven by Mark Cronin, 29, of Caesarea was eastbound on Hwy. 7A went it appears to have crossed the center line and struck a 1988 Plymouth mini-van driven by 36- year-old Caroline Jorgensen of Janetville. Both drivers were killed in the crash. The force of the impact drove both vehicles to the side of the road. A passing firefighter and a nurse gave assistance to the two victims, and firefighters from both Caesarea and Port Perry were on Two dead in head-on crash near Blackstock hand within minutes of the collision. Mr. Cronin, father of a three-year-old girl, and his wife Kristen-Lee were awaiting the birth of a second child when the accident occurred. He worked the night shift cleaning at Mother Jackson's Open Kitchens in Port Perry. Rescue workers frantically worked to free the injured drivers from the vehi- cles, and appeared to be giving CPR as ambulance workers arrived to transport the victims to hospital. In spite of their efforts, both drivers succumbed to their injuries. As early as the next morning, flowers were being placed at the scene of the double fatalities.
