RRNA OO TORR COME IN & COMPARE AT up the League Port's Bantam Nutty Boys riding a hot streak On March 5 the Nutty Chocolatiers opened their playoff round with Lindsay and Peterborough where the team continued its win- ning streak. Hosting Lindsay in the first game of the pool, Port started off with a solid 4- 2 victory. Goals came from Jamie Smith, Chris McKitterick, Tyler Lee, and Matt Smart with Trevor Doan holding the fort after Lindsay's two first period goals. On March 7, the team played in Peterborough in the first of a home-and- home series... Jeff Tarbotton had the lone Port goal and the game was tied at one with both goalies playing outstand- ing. Carl Evans was tested numerous times late in the third period but man- aged to keep the puck on the right side of the goal line. With the game shap- ing up as a one all draw, Spencer Churchill pumped home the winner with 29 seconds left to give Port the dramatic victory. The following night, Port Perry showed little fatigue. Trevor Lance notched a pair in the sec- ond to help his team earn a 4-2 win. Doan had a strong game and made some key stops to help elevate his team. Port Perry exploded in the final game of the round against Lindsay. Although allowing four goals, Port answered with nine of their own. Scott Duncan scored twice and Mike Blakey led the way with a six-point night racking up two godls and four assists. Also scoring for Port were McKitterick, LeFort, Skerratt, Grey and Bond. This past weekend the team participated in a tournament in Beamsville. Friday night Port battled with a Flamborough team who peppered Doan with shot after shot. Many players -- a on both teams went back to the benches empty handed as the battle of the goaltenders occurred. Neither team could find the back of the net and the game resulted in a 0- 0 draw. On Saturday morning, Bracebridge reminded Port Perry what a loss was like. The team suf- fered its first loss in over a month of hockey. Port wasn't outplayed by any means, as McKitterick was the only Predator to find the net. Evans did a good job at keeping the game close but the game resulted in a 2-1 decision. In the last game before the team's long ride home, the Bantams got some revenge for the Midgets over Owen Sound. Doan allowed two goals but had Churchill, Smith, Tarbotton, LeFort and Mark Duncan give him a hand scoring goals. Port wrapped up the tournament with a 5-2 win. Coach Zgsy Year.
