The focus of the project is the south- west corner of Lake Scugog along the shoreline north of Hwy. 7A (the cause- way) and adjacent to Reid's supermar- ket. The site currently features a Class 1 wetland, is a popular fishing spot, and borders a public park. In spite of these attributes, the area Shoreline trail, spawning areas part of vision has become degraded over the years by trampling, dumping of refuse, a proliferation of exotic and "weedy" plants and the construction of concrete walls along the lakeshore and a stormwater channel.
