Twelve teams provided keen curling throughout the day which the many observers enjoyed. The "draw to the but- ton" created much interest and was won by Grant Micklewright. Following the delicious din- ner prepared and served by Andrea Weir and her helpers, Diana Fletcher presented the trophy in memory of her dad, to the bonspiel winners Kent Beddows, Leanne Goslin, Brad Goslin and Heather Ferguson. Second place was won by Joy Rudkin, Grant and Laura Micklewright, Tim Lizotte/Lawrence Van Camp. This team was just one quarter of a point behind the winner. Third place winners were Paul Vaneyk, Doris. and Perry Grandel and Gail Cameron. The silent auction brought considerable excitement with keen competition on the bid- ding. A very successful day. On another nasty Tuesday evening there were eight tables of cards with the following winners: May Shortridge, Vivian Kidd, Harold Crawford, Elaine Bailey, Don Putsey, Jean Johnson and Richard Potter. Blackstock by At the United Church on Sunday morning a special pre- sentation of a number of "Voices United" in words only were donated by the choir and dedicated to the memory of Lois Luke who was a choir member, a dedicated member of the congregation and before that of Raglan United Church. Rev. D. Shearman used to attend the United Church's Pancake Supper «Spiritual Discipline" as the topic of his fine sermon. Flowers were placed in the sanctuary in loving memory of Hector Shortridge. In keeping with the day, there will be a Pancake Supper at the United Church on Tuesday, Feb. 16 beginning at 4:30 p.m. If you can attend, mark your calendar now. Eileen McLaughlin and Joyce Kelly spent from Thursday until Sunday in Quebec City where Joyce attended the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions annual conven- tion. The Winter Carnival was happening at the same time so they enjoyed several of its events. The first meeting is Feb. 17 at Blackstock United Church. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Membership fee for 1999 is $20. Welcome Ken Hudson into retirement at the Nestleton Hall on Feb. 19 An Unmarked Memorial During the spring of 1998 the Caesarea Ratepayers had trouble getting the usual group together and getting the hall for a specific night which satis- fied everyone. Finally we did and voted on spending $400 to $500 on trees to enhance Hwy. 57 as you approach our village. I phoned Mrs. Graham that "night and ordered 25 trees. Next morning Joan phoned to say the trees are here along with another order and had to be planted immediately. Ray Pollard dropped everything and came to my aid for four and a half hours to help plant trees. This past week we attended a very large funeral for this great man, Ray Pollard, who left an unmarked memorial on our main street which will live for at least 100 years.
