Give The Star a call at 985-7383 j 1 Pineridge | Midgets end year with a 17-3-1 record On Jan. 4 the Port Perry Midget #1 team sponsored by Pineridge Sports started the new year with a 7-1 win against Whitby. Their league play continued the fol- lowing week when arch-rival Oshawa came to town. In a very exciting game Port came out on top with a 4-1 win. To complete their Lakeshore league schedule Port travelled to Port Hope on Jan. 13 for an encounter with the Beavers. Playing somewhat sluggish Port still managed a 5-3 win. Over these three games Mark Blakley led the scoring with two goals and eight assists, followed by Nick Pelyk and Braden Tarbotton with three goals and two assists each. Dean Van Camp chipped in with three goals and an assist while Jason Whitworth added two goals and an assist. , Rounding out the goalscoring was Chris Skerratt with a pair and Sean Jeffrey with a goal and an assist. Mike Hamilton picked up six assists, Matt MacMaster added a pair and singles went to Jeff Ashton and Grant Hooker. Brad Johnston called up from the Midget #2 team scored a goal in the Oshawa game. Ryan Fraser with two wins and Mike MacLennan with one provided the team with excellent goaltending. After a 21 game schedule the Pineridge Midgets won 17, lost three and tied one. Playoffs begin soon with the schedule still to be determined so check the arena for details and come on out and see some fine Midget hockey.
