This Friday, Dec. 18 there will be an Old Fashioned Community Christmas Party at Manchester United Church starting at 7:30 p.m. There will be a spe- cial appearance by The Foster Family presenting their music and there will be Christmas surprises for the children. All are invited. On Sunday, Dec. 20 there will be a celebration of sacrament of commu- nion at 11 a.m. in Utica Church: Greeters will be Paul and Shirley Baster. Christmas Eve Service will also be held in Utica at 8 p.m. The U.C.W. has 1999 Heritage Books of daily meditations for sale at $8 each. To order contact Nancy Skelding at 985- 7470. We were saddened to hear of the passing on Saturday morning of neighbour and friend Utica & Grace Kirk. Service was at Wagg Funeral Home on Monday with burial at Kendall Cemetery in Utica. Visiting with Ruth Ashton this week were her grandson Bradley and Melissa from Cameron. Congratulations to our Utica Store keepers Don and Sean Kim on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 16. Plan now for New Year's Eve celebrations. Utica Hall Board will be having a dinner and dance on Dec. 31. Price for the evening will be $40 a couple and tickets are available from Rod McKay at Willowtree Market, Dale Slack or Cathy and Marvyn Stephenson. Utica has one more teenager. Happy 13th birthday to Erin Slack who celebrated on the weekend with some of her friends who had a sleep over at the Slack home. The DeCosta house- hold has had a rough time of it lately but, hopefully, things are getting back to normal for the Christmas holidays. Bonnie has been having reconstructive surgery to repair damage which was done some time back to her jaw, etc. In the mean- time Mark has had his hand in a cast from a hockey injury and to top it all off Chad had the misfortune to take a tum- ble at school and suffered some very painful facial injuries. Let's hope every- one is feeling much better soon. Congratulations to the K.C.I. Eaglettes Novice Ringette team on winning the championship at the weekend tournament in Port Perry, especially Britney and Chad DeCosta who are team members and their father Mark, one of the coaches. Special thanks to Everett and Bill Prentice for call- ing the squares. Also thanks to Bob Prentice and Doug Barber for pro- viding the toe tapping music. A White Gift Service was conducted at our reg- ular service Sunday morn- ing. The Advent Candles were lit by Jan and Lisa Gerrow. The Sunday School presented their pageant as part of our wor- ship.
