It will be the second court appearance for the dozen from Scugog, Oshawa ad Toronto, whom policoplese were part of a théft ring that handled as much as $3 million worth of stolen equipment. They made a brief appearance in Oshawa court Sept. 24. Equipment seized by OPP investigators work- ing with the Provincial Auto Theft Team this sum- mer included bobcats, backhoes, tractors, trucks, vans, and a large heavy equipment float. The OPP worked in conjunction with Durham Regional Police on Project Digger, focusing on a number of properties and people in the Blackstock area. The investigation led officers throughout the GTA, police said. In all, police executed 24 search warrants, and have recovered more than 40 pieces of machinery. Investigators have hinted that more charges are pending against suspects outside of Scugog, but in neighbouring municipali- ties. That's the warning -- no, the promise -- Port Perry High School students are making as they prepare to hold their annual Haunted House later this month. The event is coordinated by the school's OAC business administration class, and will raise funds for the Hospital For Sick Children. For $2, you can come and have a pre- Halloween thrill the evenings of Oct. 29 and 30, at the Kinsmen Hall on 'Simcoe St. in Port Perry. Organizers are laying big plans for the community, said student Cheryl Thompson. | "We're going to focus on scaring the crap out of you," she promised. The Haunted House will consist of a maze, through which customers will take their spooky tour. There will be scary scenes involving real-life actors, and some other surprises as well. For those who survive, there will be tasty treats at the end of the ordeal. The Haunted House is appropriate for all ages, said Ms Thompson. She said 10 members of the business administration class are working hard on organizing the event, but that upwards of 20 students will be involved in staging the Haunted House Oct. 29 and 30. "We're going to have helpers from the rest of the school," she said. Tours of the Haunted House take place from 5 to 8 p.m. each night. From our kitchen to yours!
