Fire alarms will also be set off at many local schools that day as another way to promote fire safety. The key to fire safety is the children, said Mr. Balser. "It's the kids that get the parents involved; they're the ones that come home from school and tell mom and dad what they learned today," he said. "The kids educate the parents, and that's the easy part. I'd rather stand in front of a school of kids telling them about fire safe- ty all afternoon than show- ing up at their home in the middle of the night on a fire truck."
