Greenbank welcomes Barry Timbers home from Germany He had a good showing at the Worlds Championship Plowmans' Competition Greenbank area news by Doris Hill Our Greenbank plow- man Barry Timbers has returned home from the Worlds Championship Plowmans Competition in Landsuit Germany. He is pleased to say that he made a good showing. He 1s to compete in the Canadian Championship at the International Plowing Match at Sunbury, Ont. this week. If he is successful there he will compete at the World Championship in France next year. There was a good turnout for church on Sunday. We enjoyed the singing Ministry of Music by Mary Jean Till and Cheryl Quantrill. The Greenbank United Church Sunday School are having Rally Weekend next weekend, starting with a hayride around the village on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. Come and enjoy a ride. Rally Sunday will be Sept. 20 at 11:15 a.m. All children who attended Vacation Bible School are invited to come out on Rally Sunday. They will be singing during the service and are asked to bring along their craft for display. Please meet in the basement at 10:30 a.m. The service will be followed by the church picnic. Barbecued ham- burgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Please bring pot luck salad or dessert. The Evening Unit U.C.W. will meet at the church Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Our topic will be understanding menopause. The speaker will be Ann Blackman. All ladies are invited to attend. Muriel Gibson had din- ner with Darlene and Dale Ridge and family, at Bewdley on Friday evening, later attending a concert in Victoria Hall, Cobourg, "Words and Music" by Brad Halls, who happens to be Darlene's boss. The September meet- ing of Women's Institute will be held at the home of Muriel Gibson on Sept. 23. Come and bring a friend. Winners at the euchre last Friday were: Ladies - Doris Hill, Muriel Tassie, and Jean Hunter. Gents - Terry Crawford, Cliff Rodd and Doug Stanfield. Lucky draws were won by Jean Rodd, Mary Jean Till, and Doris Evans. Next euchre will be Friday, Oci. 9. Sorry to report that Mrs. Pearl Couves is in hospital. We hope that she is feeling better soon. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rushford celebrated their 46th anniversary on Sunday. To help them cel- ebrate were Marilyn's brother Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Michener from Bobcaygeon. They had an anniversary dinner. Darlene and Brian Gibson celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary family at Lodge in with their Chemong Bridgenorth on Sunday.
