"It's not a one size fits all sort of thing. There will be small problems and we're going to try and iron them out. We're committed to making things work and we will try our hardest." And, while teachers' strikes loom in the horizon, Mr. O'Toole says it's up to the two sides to talk and figure out a resolution. "Last year we made significant changes in education and now we have to dialogue and solve problems," he said. "It was a government initiative to make the changes and we have to be responsive to the needs of the peo- ple... I know most school boards are at an Impasse over the prep time but I fully understand the dynamics of the democratic pro- cess." Work will also continue on the controversial Greater Toronto Services Board (GTSB) this fall, said Mr. O'Toole. "There'll also be a discussion paper on the new Municipal Act, which will define the powers of the mayor and the CEO... their responsibilities. We're going to look at their tax advantages and their free allowances; all aspects of a review," he said, adding that the government is aiming to have the new act in place before the next municipal election in a little over two years. "There are a lot of issues for us to deal with. We're trying to restore health care and work on long-term care; we're committed to that," said the MPP. "When it comes to the people in my riding, I know what they want. If there's something they want to see done, I'll make sure the minister hears about it." $F John O'Toole Crime Stoppers - 436-8477 Police seeking tips after Port Perry store robbery By Sgt.
