| "A Family Tradition for 132 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 14, 1998 - 15 Wasson's annual Musicians' Corn Roast tuning up Aug. 9 Paul and Charlene Wasson's annual corn roast has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years. This year, more recording artists and local musicians will be on hand to make the event very memorable. The corn roast is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 4790 McKee Rd. in Blackstock. The community event began as a trib- ute to Larry Dee, a good friend of Mr. and Mrs. Wasson who died due to heart related illness several years ago-~The event continues to honor Larry's memory by bringing together country music artists from across the province. Last year approximately 800 people attended throughout the course of the day. Proceeds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation totalled over $3,500. This year's musical lineup includes such artists as Mickey McGiverin, Johnny Burke, Fools Gold, Newfoundland Legends Roy Payne, Jenny and Josie. In addition, there will be children's games, raffles and a silent auction. Many local businesses have contributed prizes, food and equipment in order to make this year's event another smashing suc- cess. .
