Over the years the CHS band has attended six IMF festivals, and during that time no band has captured the top medal. The local school band played before three international-level adjudicators on May 9, International" and were presented with the gold medal. The gold medal standing puts the band in the top 8 per cent of all bands heard by the IMF across North America, and through- out the world. As a result of his stu- dent's standing, CHS music instructor John Beirness kept a promise to the band by shaving the mustache he's worn for 26 years after they returned home Sunday.
