10- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, April 14, 1998 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Greenbank's Jubilation choir preparing for concert Friday By Heather McCrae Port Perry Star It's a diverse group of women. Many are home- makers, and others are career women. But no matter how different their lives are, they all share two common bonds: their faith, and music. As most everyone knows, Greenbank has "always been known for its share of musically acclaimed residents. So it didn't come as any real surprise when a few women set the wheels in motion to form a singing group early last year. : With Betty Stone at the piano, 12 local women formed a choir. But as word spread the numbers increased, and soon it was apparent a director and music co-ordinator were needed. Next, the group had to have a name. After much deliberation the name Jubilation was chosen. With Reta Stickwood as director and Linda Hunter as co-ordinator, Jubilation has since been declared an independent choir of the Greenbank United Church and has delighted audiences throughout Durham Region ever since. This Friday (April 17) starting at 8 p.m., a con- cert 1s being held at Greenbank United Church which will see pro- ceeds go towards the music program. Entitled Jubilation and Friends, the evening also features guest soloist Heidi Howsam, as well as a local mens choir.
