LOC §7,000,000.00 Insurance Claim "IC ~ Major Roof Collapse in Montreal. 1000's OF Police report Man hits ambulance, flees scene An Oshawa man was arrested by Durham Police last weekend after he backed his vehicle into a parked ambu- lance here. Durham Regional Police report that just after 8 a.m. on March 14 a 28-year-old man came out of the Starlite Deli at the corner of Scugog St. and Carnegie Ave., jumped into his pickup truck, and backed into the ambu- lance. When the ambulance attendants got out of their vehi- cle, the man took off on foot, police said. He was arrested in a nearby laundromat. He ran from a phone booth when police cruisers arrived at the scene. A 28-year-old Newbury Court man has been charged with one count of failure to stop after an accident, and one count of failing to produce insurance. He was taken to Oshawa for an alcohol test and passed, report police. Three injured Three people were taken to hospital -- one to Toronto for serious injuries -- last weekend after an accident at the north end of Port Perry. Durham Regional Police report that just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday (March 14) that a vehicle travelling east at a high rate of speed on Reach St. caused an accident after failing to stop for the sign at the Simcoe St. inter- section. Police say that a 1989 Buick driven by a 58-year-old Stouffville man failed to stop at the intersection and col- lided with a northbound 1995 Volkswagen. The northbound car was knocked into a tree and the Buick continued through the intersection and a distance ITE E STORM '98 up Coulter St. before hitting a light standard and com- ing to a stop. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 78-year-old Seagrave man, and the Stouffville man were taken to hospital in Port Perry. A passenger in the Volkswagen, a 32-year-old male, was taken to a Toronto hospital to be treated for serious injuries to his right arm. Both vehicles were destroyed in the accident, say police. A blood sample was taken from the Stouftville man to determine if alcohol was a factor in the incident. Charges are pending. Stolen stereo Durham Regional Police were called to a Prince Albert home around 1 p.m. on March 14 after thieves had entered a Jeffrey St. home. Police say once inside thieves made off with a home stereo and $3,000 in collectible coins.
