Durham Regional Police report that just after 8 a.m. on March 14 a 28-year-old man came out of the Starlite Deli at the corner of Scugog St. and Carnegie Ave., jumped into his pickup truck, and backed into the ambu- lance. When the ambulance attendants got out of their vehi- cle, the man took off on foot, police said. He was arrested in a nearby laundromat. He ran from a phone booth when police cruisers arrived at the scene. A 28-year-old Newbury Court man has been charged with one count of failure to stop after an accident, and one count of failing to produce insurance. He was taken to Oshawa for an alcohol test and passed, report police. A blood sample was taken from the Stouftville man to determine if alcohol was a factor in the incident. Charges are pending.
