"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 16, 1997 - 23 SPORTS Alex Nicolaou opens things up for Port Goreski's make it look easy in thumping of Haliburton On Nov. 30 Goreski's Pee Wee Bs travelled to Haliburton and registered a solid victory. Haliburton opened the scoring early in the first period, but Port Perry roared back with three unanswered goals. The first came from Alex Nicolaou as a result of a nice pass from John Daruwala. Alex is one of Port's fine goalies but played out due to a num- ber of players absent. Jordan Froats scored the next two goals with assists going to Tony Boomsma, Pat Lewis and John Daruwala. Haliburton opened up the second period with a quick goal that just trick- led by Scott Honey, who CROSSWORD ANSWERS o|Z(m|ZT|> (>| n <|[=H|~|>|2Z o|-|x|0O mio|>»0 »(Z|0 X|Z|>»|r mir|-|v |m|v »wlomm|E|[~ T|>»|n(v® w|o|r|(m|x w|o|m|mio »w|o|m|o ~"|n|>»|0 moo w|xX|0 O|D|<|® Z|>|x|n »w|Z|0(m Z|» von o(>|0|n m|ioO|O|Dd|m ~(>»0|® D(mMm|O[>|m <[D|Z(>» IiO|(-<|m m|{D|0 mlo[-[> ~lo|xn]>[oul>[Z]«4]|n|-2[z o>] -|Z|0|r w D(X» |D(=m|T|~|O|Z|>|(<|[O]|>]| o>» wi4inln clo|x |= Dm» omm|ir|m |v |E(>»|r|O »w|o|lv WONDERFUL GIFT IDEAS UNDER $20 207 Queen St. Port Perry 4 3 29 Simcoe St. S. | UR \ Oshawa AY was almost flawless for the night. Port then took control of the game from Goreski's 8 Haliburton 2 this point on, passing the puck with authority and finishing their checks. Pat Lewis popped in the next one from the slot with a nice pass from Jordan Froats. Both Pat and Jordan were on their way to three point nights. 'Pat then set up Jesse Mischitan who made a nice rush up the ice and flipped it past the Haliburton netminder. The next goal, early in the third period, came when Tyler Weisflock knocked in the rebound when the Haliburton goalie initially stopped a blast from Geoff Simpson. Several minutes later, Devon Howsam cranked a howitzer from the point that almost pierced the netting. Alex finished the scoring with his second (not bad for a goalie play- ing way out of his net), assisted by Ryan Hnatko and Devon Howsam. Despite great play at cen- tre, Jessie Mullins was kept off the scoresheet. Also off the sheet, due to family commitments, were Justin Shinn, Jeff Talmey, Chet Martin and Wes Langmaid.
