"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" 20- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 4, 1997 Ashburn News Feast at church Many out for Harvest By Florence Ashton Inclement weather, it didn't prevent people from attending the Halloween Harvest Feast held at Burns Church. Many people turned up in their Halloween costume, and what a variety of individuals we had. Our own Doc McKinney was dressed as Davey Crockett, and Joan Fleming made a very attractive Snow White. Three prizes were given for the best costume. First prize went to Wilma Lynde and Jean Johnston for their cos- tumes as ballerinas. What laughs this couple ~ brought. Ken Brown won second prize. He showed up dressed as an accident victim, crutches and all. This again brought roars of laughter from the audience. Theo Knight took the prize for the third best costume. He was dressed as Ashburn's hobo and acted out his part well. Thanks to all who helped make this a fun time for all. Special thanks to the Kirk Guild for their fine effort. The Kirk Guild will meet Monday, November 10, at 4:30 p.m. in the church. The Guild are busy making plans for a bake sale and lunch for Saturday, December 6.
