"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 23, 1997 - 19 'Church, and still enjoyed Obituary Olive May Beacock Olive May Beacock passed away suddenly on June 26, 1997 at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry, at age 93. She was born in Cartwright Township to Wesley and Helena (Campbell) Beacock. Olive went to school at Blackstock and later moved to Oshawa, where she worked at the Oshawa General Hospital for several years before retiring in 1969. : Olive moved to Port Perry in the late 1980's. She was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal baking and sewing even though she was an elder- ly person, by this time. Olive, although never married, lived for her family and her Lord. A funeral service was held June 30, 1997 at the Wagg Funeral Home, officiated by pastor Dean Bursey. Interment fol- lowed at Cartwright Union Cemetery. Olive is survived by one brother, John. She was predeceased by brothers Adelbert Lloyd, and Les. She was also predeceased by sisters Margaret and Jenevieve. There were written greetings and tributes from Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Ontario Premier Mike Harris, Scugog Township, and the Ontario Community Newspaper Association. Making speeches of thanks and appreciation were Star co-owner and general manager Don MacLeod (left), Star publisher Peter Hvidsten, Durham MP Alex Shepherd, and Scugog Township Mayor Howard Hall.
