The latest entry to the race is Dave Robinson, a 44-year-old Port Perry high school teacher with a strong background in community service. Mr. Robinson will run for the Ward 1 council seat now held by outspo- ken political veteran Doug Moffatt. Mr. Moffatt ~ has paid his registry fee, but has yet to declare which municipal position he'll seek. When asked what prompted his decision to run for council Mr. Robinson told the Star, I can think of no more important time to run for council than now. With the very future of munici- pal government at ques- tion, we have to protect municipal councils. "They are our most important level of govern- ment." He said Scugog would fare best under its pre- ORDER.PARKS INSURANCE BROKERS INC. Robinson, who is the past national President of The Kinsman Clubs of Canada, also said that the students he teaches law and business admin- istration to had some- thing to do with his deci- sion to run. "I have always taught my students that it is part of their civic duty to become involved in the decision making of gov- ernment, so it's time for me to practice what I teach." | The election is Nov. 10.
