The initiative will be widely recognized as "Partners in Conserva- tion." The first partner in the program is Cold- well Banker Kent Place Realty in Lindsay. KRCA and Coldwell Banker will jointly pro- mote certain conserva- tion events and pro- jects. Participating Coldwell agents will contribute a portion of their sales transactions to KRCA for conserva- tion related initiatives. On June 4 during a meeting of the KRCA executive committee, the program was given final approval. At the last regular meeting of the full KRCA Board, representatives from member municipalities voted in favor of the program in principle, paving the way for final approval from the exec- utive committee. As cooperative fund- raising ventures such as this are new to the KRCA they will man- age the program care- fully to ensure related promotions are done in good taste. All Conservation Au- thorities in Ontario were faced with sub- stantial reductions in provincial funding last year. Every Conserva- tion Authority in Onta- rio had to streamline operating budgets and look at creating new revenue sources so that they could continue de- livering important con- servation programs.
