"A Family Tradition for 131 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 10, 1997 -5 Police report Durham Regional Police have arrested and charged a 22-year- old Blackwater man after an investigation into an incident last month. Police report that sometime overnight between May 18-19 a truck, possibly a four- wheel drive vehicle, smashed through a pagewire fence at the south end of Summerlea Golf Course, near Russell and Coates Roads. The pickup truck was then driven over the fairways and greens of the local golf club, caus- ing extensive damage to a number of fairways and three greens. One green was found with gouge marks as a result of spinning tires. Five pins were also removed from the course, which are valued at $85 each. A water sprinkler sys- tem also was damaged during the vandalism spree, police say. During an investiga- tion by Durham Police, a license plate was was tracked to a Concession Four Blackwater residence. The 22-year-old resi- dent was subsequently . found and the owner Spree on course leads to charges arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000. He was later released and will appear in an Oshawa court on June 12. Owners of Summerlea Golf Course estimate damage to be between $1,500 and $2,000. Lawnmower theft A brand new Sears Craftsman push lawn- mower was stolen some- time overnight on June 6-7 say Police. The mower, valued at $500, was taken from a Jeffrey St. residence in Prince Albert. LL Pump and run Shortly after 6 p.m. on June 8 a vehicle pulled up to a pump at Manchester Esso on Highway 12 and stole some gasoline, say police. According to witness- es, someone got out and pumped $10 of fuel into the car's tank and sped off. Stolen motorcycle A homemade Harley Davidson motorcycle was stolen from a Scugog Island resident sometime between June 4-7 say Durham Regional Police.
