Uxbridge man drowns An Uxbridge man died on the weekend when his snowmobile plunged through the ice of a Muskoka area lake. Michael MacKenzie, 29, was out on a night run with two friends when he fell through the thin ice of Go Home Lake, northwest of Bracebridge. Police divers pulled the man's body from the frigid lake after nearly eight hours of searching. Mr. MacKenzie's two friends did not fall through and attempted to pull him out. Unsuccessful, the two went to shore for help. Married with one son, Mr. MacKenzie was a self- employed carpenter. According to OPP, signs had been posted warning people of weak ice throughout most of the winter because of mild weather.
