Ward One Councillor Doug Moffatt will be hold- ing his second "Town Hall" meeting at Utica Hall on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. Ward One residents are once again faced with an offer they may well refuse, with the announcement by Mayor Howard Hall that once again he'll try to give them a service they don't want -- door to door garbage pickup, said Councillor Moffatt. "The meeting promises to be lively," he said. The first such meeting attract- ed about 40 residents for an open session with ques- tions and answers. This meeting, originally set for November, was de- layed pending the an- nouncements of the pro- vincial government. For information call 852-9299. Two local men have received jail time after pleading guilty to a number of crimes in Scugog. Michael Lee Colbary, 22, and Jeremy Joseph Hubbart, 20, both of Port Perry, appeared in court in Oshawa Jan. 15 to answer to charges involving break-ins, theft, and auto theft. Michael Colbary was sentenced to 15 months in jail and 12 months probation, and Joseph Hubbart was sentenced to serve eight months, as well as 12 months probation. The two were charged after a police investiga- tion begun on Nov. 30 of last year by Durham Region Police Constables Jeff Ward Two plead guilty to a series of charges and Richard Paul of 26 Division in Port Perry. They were probing a number of break-ins, thefts, and arson to vehicles in the area. That investigation, along with cooperation from victims and others in the community, led to the arrest of the two accused on 13 charges, including : Q Three counts of theft; 0 Possession of stolen property; Q arson, a two counts of break and enter with intent; Q two counts of attempted theft; @ mischief, and a other theft and pos- session of stolen proper- ty charges.
