Metal nips Cuspids Port Perry Metal Pro- cessing nipped Cottrell's Cuspids for a 3-2 victory in their game on Saturday, Feb. 1. Lots of tight check- ing kept the first period scoreless as both teams worked hard in the neu- tral zone. In the second period things opened up a bit and Adam Smart scored first for Port Perry on a nice pass from Kristy Ashton. The lead was short lived as Justin Cottrell was re- warded with an assist when he worked to set up a play to Brooks Taylor, who fed the puck to Chris Isaacs to put Cottrell's Cuspids on the score- board. Port Perry Metals came back when Darryl Goulding got his second goal of 1997 on a hard low shot, assisted by John Dutka and Darryl Copit- horn. Midway through the third period Adam Smart added an insurance goal for Port Perry Metals, with assists going to Dar- ryl Goulding and Kristy Ashton. Peter Dutka was a tenacious defenseman for Port Perry, stopping a Cottrell'sbreakaway. Cottrell's Cuspids poured on the pressure in the dying minutes of the game, and Mitch Saunder came through with a goal, with help from Joseph Kozlinsky and Chris Isaacs, but Robert Larmer came up with the needed saves to preserve the win for Port Perry Metals.
