It was announced yesterday that Guy Kirvan, currently the CEO at the County of Bruce General Hospital, will take over the reins of the amalgamated board when Port Perry's David Brown and Uxbridge's Randy Hoban step down from their posts. ~ While the search for poten- tial candidates was on Jerry Taylor, who represents Port on the amalgamation committee, said that they were looking for someone with multi-site experi- ence. Now they believe they've found him, he said Monday. In his current position, Mr. Kirvan is managing two hospi- tal sites and is involved in a four hospital amalgamation. In a press release, Mr. Kirvan expressed excitement at the move to the area. "l am looking forward to working with the community, the board, medical staff, and all involved in the hospital," he said. Holding the event at Raglan's Trillium Trails for the first time, the Port Perry Kinsmen again called upon dog sled teams to come compete in Central Ontario. While over 45 teams flocked from across Canada and the United States, the crowds of spectators organ- izers anticipated failed to materialize. According to organizer Dave Goldberg,hopes of seeing 20,000 people take in the races were crushed when just over 2,500 spectators paid their admission fee Saturday and Sunday. "Overall the races went extremely well. The only let down was the number of spec- tators we had come out, but everything else was fine," said Mr. Goldberg, clearly disap- pointed at the turnout.
