The lecture takes place on-Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at Whitby Free Methodist Church and again at 7 p.m. at Whitby Mental Health Centre. After an investigation, Police discovered that the Blazer was stolen from Courtice and that the steering col- umn was pulled out on the vehicle. The two men were spotted behind the Post Office on Queen St. and both started to run. While running the suspects dropped a CD player, from the Blazer, and a crowbar. An 18-year-old male was arrested after the chase and a 19-year-old male was apprehended the follow- ing morning. Both were charged with possession over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession under $5,000, and pos- session of a burglary tool. Fire Destroys Cottage Durham Police officers and 16 firemen were called to 106 Prentice Lane on Dec. 31, 1996, around 3 p.m. A cottage was found ablaze upon arrival and was completely destroyed. A man apparently lit his oil stove and went to talk to a neighbor when another neighbor spotted his chimney on fire. Fire and police were called to the scene and fire- fighters from Station 1 battled the blaze for over two hours. Damage was estimated to be around $40,000.
