As yet another deadline passed at the end of last week, some job action was begun by doctors; at some clinics over the weekend - people showed up with their sick children, only to find the doors locked. While the doctors obviously are hoping to pressure the government through the withdrawal of services, they're doing nothing but harm in their public relations campaign with us, the public. Their actions will be widely perceived as callous and intemperate, the very opposite of the qualities we expect from our care givers. Withdrawals of service aren't apparent in Scugog yet, but they may not be far away, and they are far from unprecedented. It was not long ago that the Medical Associates were closing their doors and blaming the 'Rae Days' brought to us by the social contract. They made their point; now Mike Harris has the premier's job. The dgctors are upset, to be sure, but they must retain their air of professionalism.
