The U.C.W. held a joint service at Blackstock United Church. The guest speaker was Karen * Smart. There were three bap- tisms at this service. The U.C.W. provided lunch after the service. Church The 151st Anniversary Ser- vice of Nestleton Presbyterian Church was celebrated on Sun- day, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. with a very good attendance. The guest soloist Mr. Glenn Larmer sang two very appropriate solos - "Praise the Lord with the Sound of Trumpet," and "We are called to follow Jesus." Joyce Taylor was organist, and also accompanied the Sunday School Choir for "Whisper a Prayer." The ushers were Oli- ver Rohrer and Russell Brown. Responsive Psalm was #78 and Scripture readings were from Exodus 17; and St. Mat- thew 21. In the sermon Rev. Fairley spoke of God being in supreme control, with our future based on hope in the coming years....as it had been in past years. Our prayer... Thy King- dom come. Holy Communion will be dis- pensed next Sunday, Oct. 6 at the regularserviceat 11 a.m. Following the Anniversary Service, a luncheon was served in the Sunday School room, and a time of fellowship enjoyed by all. Family News Church marks its 130th Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Carrie Bon- nell who passed away in Oshawa Hospital. The Bonnell family had lived in Prince Al- bert for many years. This is a very sad time for the family as a daughter Mable was buried the same week. Lila Clarke travelled to the east coast with her daughter Fern and Doug Murray of King- ston to visit with relatives of her late husband's family. They sang "Anthem of Fellowship" and "Lord, I Stretch My Hands to You," un- der the leadership of Beth Willes accompanied by Linda Hunter at the piano. Lunch and fellowship time followed. Sunday evening a piano reci- tal was performed by Dorinda Vollmer with music from Mo- zart, Bach, Chopen Beethoven along with melodies on a lighter tone. A most enjoyable evening: Refreshments followed in the church hall. Friends of Silvia Lindsay wish her well on her moving to California in October to live with her son. She would like a phone call or a visit before she leaves. A speedy recovery to Ralph Sadler following his surgery last week. Ralph and Dorothy Sadler are spending some time with Rick and Janice n- zie and family. Hope you re feel- ing better soon, Ralph. Welcome to the newest mem- ber of the community, Taylor Dallas, infant son of Daryl and Lisa Dallas. He was born on Tuesday, Sept. 24. He is a little playmate for Hayley and Mor- gan. Nestleton 4-H will be starting on Monday, Oct. 7 at Nestleton Community Centre at 7 p.m. Our project this fall is "Milk Makes it Better." At that time we were all kids. growing up together I speak of | Barbara Miller who in adult hood married Jim Martin and they celebrated their 49th wed- ding anniversary last month. Barbara's late brother Fred, Bill Fitchett and I always had an iron in the fire doing ¢ - thing. It was nice to re band Jim, and her brother Bill after so many years, but it was a very sad occasion. Our sincere condolences to the families. I have been very busy for the past three weeks and finally found what happened to my old side kick who got me into their pleasant hour or so of writing every Sunday night. Mabel Cawker is in the Community Memorial Hospital, Port Perry and is not daing too well.
