Bob, 17, and Matthew. 14, Cracknell, who have been racing for the past three seasons are now un- able to replace the bikes. What makes the theft more heartbreaking, is that dirt bikes are not in- surable because they go missing too easily, their fa- ther Kevin explained. The bikes were stolen from a locked garage be- hind the Cochrane Street home sometime after 2 a.m. on October 16. The door of the building had been ripped from its hing- es. The boys' mother had been awake until 2 a.m. and neighbors reported hearing vehicles squeal- ing from the area just after 3a.m. The 1991CR125 Honda, red and white in color, was Bob's bike and was stolen along with a 1994 yellow DS80 Suzuki that the fam- ily was fixing up to sell for a friend. The bikes were valued at $4,000. The boys' father Kevin told the Star that locks on a gate to the backyard and on the bike's race trailer were cut also by the thieves. The racing season was to continue through Octo- ber for the Port Perry teens, but they do not have the money to go out and buy new bikes. The bikes they did have had been the reward of Optimal Racing Oils and * hard work during the sum- mers when they held part- time jobs cutting grass and fixing bicycles.
