Be sure to come out and support the Blackstock Fair this Saturday, Aug. 24. About a year ago I wrote about a conversationI had with Mayor Howard Hall about the necessity of two exits to every subdivision. Remember after my long thrust into the subject he informed me that the one I was raving about wasn't in Scugog but just over the line in Oshawa. I ask you to think of the TV cover- age about three weeks back of that one house completely destroyed and another four or six they thought at the time would have to be demolished. Isn't it common sense to design these projects properly to give that other exit in case of devastation caused by nature or man. But I do agree that by so doing a quiet residential street does not become a thorough fare to avoid a Eileen and I have just returned from a long weekend spent in God's country up north on the upper French River. There it appears we have the main river and then another channel a little to the south and a series of islands of all shapes and sizes. O yes, occasionally you'll travel a distance down behind a few islands and find no exit, you should have turned left or right at that last park away back. But with the adventurous spirit we had an enjoyable weekend. We did manage to travel a dis- tance and reached Lake Nippissing. We were something like a modern day Champlain with gaso- line and power boat in- stead of: canoes and pad- dles. It was much easier! Thought for the Week: Do you realize that if Shakespeare had lived in 5 +! 5 : Ed celebrate the 90th day afternoon. The | home of his daughter Brian Fulford of Port
