"A Family Tradition for 130 Years" Family seeks help for ill cousin [StonemoorD Seagrave woman hopes marrow donor can be found 935-0800 By Jeff Mitchell Port Perry Star A local woman is appealing to her friends and neighbors in Scugog as she tries to help a rel- ative who's been stricken with leukemia. Mary Taylor of Seagrave is hoping some- one can be the 1 in 20,000 match for her cousin Frank Ronco, 27, who is in need of a bone marrow transplant. The family is holding a clinic in Toronto in August, and in the mean- time they're trying to raise money to help offset the $50 per person cost of blood tests that are need- ed to help search for a marrow donor. She hopes that if the clinic is offered for free, it will be incentive for poten- tial donors to come out. "We need everybody, all over the place," said Ms Taylor. "The chances are 1in 20,000 it's going to be @ match, so we've got to reach as many peo- ple as we can to go down and get tested." Mr. Ronco's relatives in Stouffville are holding a fundraising car wash, while others will raise money as they can. Ms Taylor said she may hold a pig roast at her Robinglade Estates home this summer. "His whole family has just come together and everybody's doing a phe- nomenal job," she said. Even if a donor can't be found for Mr. Ronco, the effort will make a dif- ference.
