Although auction items are still coming in there are currently more than 150 items to go to the high- est bidder. The auction will be open for viewing and bidding on Friday, May 10 from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The bidding on items will close at various inter- vals over the two days. All bidding will cease at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The items on the list cover a wide range of arti- cles with something for everyone. The auxiliary is grateful to all individuals, businesses and anony-. mous donors who have do- nated items for the cause. A partial list of items in- clude hand-hooked rugs, afghans, duck carving, limited edition plates, Precious Moments, baby layette, electric blanket, quilts, limited edition prints, firewood, chil- dren's books, paintings, jewelry and horse brass, among many other items. Many local businesses have put their services up for auction including a massage, fitness session, wills and green fees. Other interesting items include four tickets to a 'Blue Jays game, a break- fast flight for two to Elm- hurst Lodge on Rice Lake, and a canoe trip and champagne lunch for two on Bluehawk Lake and Burnt River. A complete list of all items will be available on May 5 and can be picked up at the hospital, The Port Perry Star, Scugog Citizen, Guardian Drug Store and general stores in Blackstock, Caesarea, Scugog Island, Seagrave and at the Chicken Coop in Greenbank. All funds raised from the auction will be used to purchase equipment to benefit the patients at Community Memorial Hospital. Fa Somewhere over the rainbow... Lions seek names for annual award The Greenbank Lions Club are presenting their second annual "Lloyd and Marion Lee Community Volunteer Award" ceremo- . nyondune 19. The purpose of the award, begun last year, is to recognize people that do things for the community. "If it weren't for the vol- unteers, a lot of things in the community would not get done," says Larry Do- ble of the Greenbank Li- ons Club. In order to be eligible for the award, you must be a Greenbank resident and a community volunteer who shows "dedication beyond the call of duty," explains Mr. Doble. The winner will receive a plaque, and their name will be placed on a larger plaque, joining the win- ners for years to come. The recipient of the first award, given out by the club last year, was Jean Hunter. All nominees wil be con- sidered carefully by a com- mitee. Nominations must be in by mid May.
