Youth Challenge Inter- national (YCI) is a non- profit organization whose mission is to encourage young peoples' active, re- sponsible, and continuing participation in issues of local and global develop- ment. Young people from across Canada and around the world will work on a variety of community de- velopment, health, and en- vironmental projects for 10 week periods next fall and winter, under the guidance of experienced volunteer group leaders and project managers. "Participating on a YCI project provides young Ca- nadians with the chance to earn valuable experience, to gain new skills, to learn about a different culture, and to meet other young people from around the world," says Michael Buda, the Recruitment and Selection Director at YCI.
