Due to the inclem- ent weather we had expe- rienced lately, two previ- ous games had been cancelled. The opponents on this night were the Clippers from Stouffville. This was the first encoun- ter this season with the Clippers and the play was tentative to start the first period. Por' were trying to get their legs back in game action after the layoff and their timing was a little off as the first period wound down, things started to get back on track as Troy Campbell finally managed to get one by a stubborn Stouffville goalie. Picking up assists on the goal were linemates Dillan Weber and Dave Gainey. Port was up 1-0 after the first period. The action picked up in the second as both teams played end to end hockey. Port increased their lead to two as Derek Tindall finished off a nice passing play with linemates Scott Jeffrey and Adam Hobbs. Stouffville scored late in the second period to re- duce Port's lead to 2-1. The third period proved to be tight and tense as Stouffville fought hard to tie the game. Mike Ma- Pearce hosts Port Hope This week Pearce Auc- tion played host to Port Hope on Friday, Dec. 8. Port Perry came out flying with awesome forecheck- ing and bang on passing. . Pearce Auction scored on their first shift as a spirited Cassidy Weber drove to the net and Tyson Savage (Robo) wacked in the rebound. On the next shift, however, Port Hope came back to tie it. Mid- way through the first Kee- nan Geer lugged the puck deep into the opponent's zone to set the bee's buzz- ing. Kyle Mullins to Jeff Tomcheski, spin-a- ramma, scores. Port Hope answered late in the first. Then Mi- chael Lycett took a soft pass from Matthew Roth. He cruised past the de- _ Bs 0 SE Marzipan | figures at: > \ NUTSABOUT ill} \ J ra fence and confidently tucked it in. After an excit- ing but scoreless second period, Tyson Savage banged in another Cassidy Weber rebound. In the late going, Jeff Tomcheski carried the puck all the way and found a hole to put the icing on the cake of a well-earned win. The next game was Sun- day, or was it Saturday? Oh well, we played the LN.H.L. Canadians at the Civic. Pearce Auction played a solid exhibition game with a short bench due to the weather. Kory Bauer had a strong game as did Derek Goreski, Tay- lor Churchill and Danny Halward on defensive and other places. Nelson Lang- maid was all over the place like a jack-rabbit and worked very hard as usual. Ashley Lucas put on a great display of puck con- trol. She set up Tyson Sav- age's goal and took a pass from Cassidy Weber to score Pearce Auction points. The Canadians played a strong game slipping three goals behind our keeper for the win. Al- though we came up short [eo Taillon made some nice stops. The next night, Dec. § the boys made that fun trip down the 401 to Co- bourg. The temperature as usual was warmer out- side than inside the old barn but Cobourg was ready to play. They were definitely after revenge as we had beaten them twice already this season. Co- bourg's efforts in the first period were rewarded with an early goal and a 1- 0 lead. Action picked up in the second period as Port started to chip away at the Cobourg lead which had grown to two. Leading the way for Port were Derek Tindall and Troy Camp- bell as they both scored one apiece to tie the game at two. Obviously the ref- eree was not aware who assisted on these two goals as the gamesheet was blank. Cobourg picked up the pace and scored the go ahead goal. for a 3-2 lead after two pe- riods. Port pulled out all the stops as they tied the game at three early in the third when Danny Lyons scored assisted by Casey VanSchagen. Again Co- bourg were not going to give up easily and they stormed back with two goals of their own for a 5-3 lead late in the third peri- od. Port managed a late goal by Derek Tindall with seconds to go. Assisting Derek in this last ditch ef- fort were Dave Gainey and Dillan Weber. Unfortu- nately time ran out on the clock and Port was unable to comeback on this night giving Cobourg the 5-4 vic- tory. Ryan Fraser played tough, as he was barraged with many shots from the Cobourg squad. Upcoming for the Port Perry Country Style Ban- tams is their home tourna- ment on Dec. 16 at the Scugog Arena. For only a few dollars you can spend an entertaining day watching Bantam hockey at its finest. Action com- mences at 8 a.m. as Port takes on the Oshawa Blackhawks of the little N.H.L. so take a break from Christmas shopping and come out and see some exciting hockey.
