Mo Jack Special Section - Wednesday, October 11 1719/2274) 4 PARLIAMENT SE SRSA, Murray Pariament has a love for hockey and he has spent the past 19 years serving as General Manager of the MoJacks. Parliament was approached by the organization to serve as a trainer and equipment manager in 1975 and found himself making management decisions. A year later he took over the G.M.'s job. The job of General Manager has become more complex over the years, with budgets going through the roof, but Pardiament manages to keep the team running smoothly. Many of the players who come to Port Perry say it is because of the dedication of the management - - people like Parliament. The Modacks, along with the other five Central League teams, will be faced with a 42-game schedule this sea- son, compared to a 36-game schedule previously. The longer schedule was made to ac- commodate another change, which will see the local league teams playing home and home series' with the Camp- bellford Rebels, the Picton Pirates and the Brighton Sting of the Eastern Onta- rio league. One other significant change this season also sees the league one team short as the Bowmanville Eagles made the jump to the Junior A level. Bow- manville edged the Modacks for top spot in the league last season and de- feated the local squad for the league championship as well. All of the changes should make for a more exciting hockey season as every game will count as much as the next as teams scramble for playoff berths. Only four teams will advance to the playoff round instead of the traditional six. While Bowmanville walked away with the league title last season, 20 points ahead of the second place Mo- Jacks, only 14 points separated the Mo- Jacks and sixth place Little Britain, which may make it very close at the top once again. With the Eagles out of the picture this season the Modacks head into the 1995-96 campaign with the best record TurntoPage 7 CHIC CARNEGIE =U" When Brad Menzies vacated the head coach position at the end of last season, Camegie, with two years as an assistant coach under his belt, decided to take over. Carnegie, the 53-year- old skipper of the MoJacks is well known in the hockey circles both as a former coach and a player in the Port Perry minor hockey ranks. In the early 1960s Camegie, a skilled, stay-at- home defenceman, toiled in the Metro Junior A loop with the famed Whitby Dunlops. He also took a turn playing with the St. Catharines team in the OHA Junior A loop.
