Aces vs Roosters On Sunday The Taylor Fuels Aces faced the Pizza Delight Roosters and were shown mer- ciless defeat. Jim Fowler of the Roosters was assisted by Bruce Gracie and John Harman to start the game, followed closely by another goal by Jim Fowler, this time assisted by John Har- man and Carl Durham. The next goal came from the Aces with Richie LeFort scoring and Ken Little and Wayne Tay- lor holding the assists. Bruce Gracie scored another for the Roosters with Tony Oxley and Jeff Johnstone. Next Jim Fowl- er scored yet another with assis- tance from John Harman and Terry Flieler. Brian Stevenson was assisted by John Harman and Carl Durham to put in the five Rooster goal. Minutes after Carl Durham was assisted by John Harman to score another goal. In the top of the third period Brad Hurst unassisted scored another for the Roosters fol- lowed by John Harman with Carl Durham assisting. Then Bruce Gracie was assisted by Tony Oxley to score the final and ninth goal for the Roosters. Then in the last minutes of the game Mark Jobb of the Aces was assisted by Henry Forderer and George Gladish to end the game at 9-2 for the Roosters. Comets vs Wolves Game two was played by the Compton Comets and the Pine- ridge Wolves. Bill Foote of the Comets started the game with assistance from Jason Warner and Ron Compton. Then in the end of the second period the Wolves scored their first goal from Clarence Ste- phenson who was assisted by Wayne Norton and Todd Wil- bur. Then Larry Pilkey was as- sisted by Ken Smart Sr. and Ron Zaparanuik to score an- other for the Wolves. Next Steve Connors of the Comets scored with Bob Bea- cock assisting. Darcy Milligan of the Wolves scored the third goal unassisted, followed by Robert Van Camp who was as- sisted by Ron Zaparanuik and Darcy Milligan. Finally in the last seconds of the game Clarence Stephenson was assisted by Ken Smart Sr. and Darcy Milligan to end the game at 5-1 for the Wolves. Sharks vs Flames Game three was played by the Van & Truck World Sharks and the Harrison Fuel Flames. Rick Hope of the Flames opened this game with assistance from Bill Bridge and Glen Hudson. No goals were scored in the sec- ond period. Then in the third Duane Bronson of the Flames was as- sisted by Bill Bridge and Bruce Smith to start the scoring again. Next Phil Cochrane of the Sharks scored their first and last goal with assistance from Wayne Hancock and Dave Brownson. Bill Bridge was as- sisted by Duane Bronson to score the last goal and end the game at 3-1 for the Flames. Chargers vs Hawks In game four the Monsma Chargers took on the J&D Hawks and lost. Joe Currans was the first to score for the Hawks with assistance from John Mackey. Then Steve Fox of the Chargers was assisted by Brian Pomeroy and Jack Mon- sma to start their scoreboard running. Keijo Kinnunen scored another for the Hawks with Steve Groves and Alan Sibbald assisting. Jack Monsma scored another for the Chargers next with as- sists from Steve Fox and Brian Pomeroy for their last goal.- John Kotarba was assisted by Alan Sibbald and John Mackey, then seconds later John Mackey scored an unassisted goal. Joe Currans scored another goal with Dennis Lycett and John Mackey followed by an- other goal from Keijo Kinnunen who was assisted by Bob Collins and Alan Sibbald for the last goal of the game, leaving the score at 6-2 for the J&D Hawks. Clippers vs Senators Game five was a closer game between the Fitzgerald Clip- pers and the Ball-Callery Sena- tors. Rick Campbell scored the first goal in the second period assisted by Doug Suppelsa then Paul Goreski was assisted by Ivan Geer and Ken Jeffrey of the Senators to end the game 1- 1. Clippers vs Comets On Monday the Fitzgerald Clippers took on the Compton Comets in the first game. The first two goals were scored by Jason Warner of the Comets, one unassisted, the other was assisted by Bill Foote and Mark Burger. Then Greg Fitzgerald scored with assistance from Carl Fitzgerald and Rick Camp- bell. Next David Booth scored another for the Comets with help from Bill Weisflock and Chris Brain; In the third period Carl Fitz- gerald was assisted by John Moore to finish the game 3-2 for the Comets. Roosters vs Sharks Game two hosted the Pizza Delight Roosters and the Van & Truck World Sharks in another massacre by the Roosters. Mark Pehlemann scored the first three Rooster goals, one with assistance from John Harman, the next with John Harman and Carl Durham and the last with Brad Hurst. Then Richard Sakanshi was assisted by Dave Bourgeois and Brian Stevenson followed by Bruce Gracie who was assisted by Brad Hurst and Jeff John- stone. Dave Dickson of the Sharks tried to bite back with an unas- sisted goal in the third period but could only avoid a shutout ending the game at 5-1 for the Roosters. Senators vs Wolves Game three hosted the Ball- Callery Senators and the Pine- ridge Wolves which was opened by Clarence Stephenson of the Wolves who was assisted by Darcy Milligan and Jim Beatty. The next goal went solely to Brett' Laycoe who has taken Fred Randell's position on the Senators. Followed by Mark De- costa who was assisted by Brian Samis and Brett Laycoe, two goals by Rob Evans, one with as- sistance from Ken Jeffrey and Paul Goreski and the other un- assisted. Then Jim Duncan of the Wolves scored with assists from Ken Smart Sr. and Todd Wilbur. Paul Goreski took the next goal for the Senators with Fred Moffatt and Roger Moase. Jim Beatty of the Wolves scored their last goal with Dar- cy Milligan and Clarenge Ste- phenson. Mark Decosta was as- sisted by Paul Goreski and Ken Jeffrey followed by Brett Lay- coe's goal with assistance from Brian Samis and Mark Decosta to end the game at 7-3 for the Senators giving them a first win. Hawks vs Flames Game four was played by the J&D Carpentry Hawks and the Harrison Flames in a close game. Willy Edwards of the Flames scored the only goal, with assistance fromGlen Hud- son and Bob Beveridge. Brian Norton was assisted by John Kotarba to score the first Hawk's goal. Then Bob Collins scored with Brian Norton and Steve Groves to finish the game 2-1 for the Hawks. Aces vs Chargers In game five the Taylor Aces played the Monsma Chargers which started with Richie Le- Fort scoring and Wayne Taylor assisting. Then Steve Durham was assisted by Henry Forderer and Richie LeFort, followed by Alan Bonner in an unassisted goal. Then Lee Wilbur of the Chargers scored and was assist- ed by Brian Pomeroy and Bill Van Camp, ending the game at 3-1 for the Aces. 6:45 a.m. - Harrison Fuels vs Ball-Callery & Assoc. 7:45 a.m. - J&D Carpentry vs Van & Truck World. 8:45 a.m. - Fitzgerald's Weed Control vs Monsma Electric. 9:45 a.m. - Taylor Fuels vs Compton Cable. 10:45 a.m. - Pizza Delight vs Pineridge Sports. Goreski's defeats Uxbridge 6-2 at home Goreski's Lakeside Rec- reation II hockey team, opened another season of hockey in Lindsay on Fri- day, Oct. 6. Adam Moynes scored the first goal, as- sisted by Joel Thomson and Brent Simpson. Mike Lefort scored the second goal of the game with as- sists going to Scott Dun- can and Darren Royle. Al- though the team lost the game 4-2, they gained val- uable experience in con- tact hockey. YMCA offers basketball The local YMCA is offering 10 weeks of basketball for both women and children on Monday evenings across the township. A women's basketball fun night is held on Monday evenings at Cartwright Central Public School. The cost 1s $20 for 10 weeks. The series of games got un- derway last week, but those interested in doing so can still join at a reduced rate. Junior and Youth basketball is also being offered on Monday evenings from 7-8 p.m. at S. A. Cawker Public School. To register for either call the YMCA office at 985- 2824 or drop in at their new office at the Scugog Com- munity Centre on Reach Street. The team played Ux- bridge, on Oct. 9. The boys were pumped and ready to play the game they knew best. The first goal of the game was netted by Matt McGarry; the helper went to Billy Carr. Our defence, Tyler Houthuys, Joel Thompson, Mike Wads- worth, and Scott Duncan played vigilantly to pro- tect our goalies, D'Arcy Stephens and Mike Koury. The second goal of the first period went to Matt Cracknell, assisted by Adam Moynes. With less than four min- utes into the second period Mike Wadsworth scored unassisted. Other goals of the game went to Matt Skerratt, and Billy Carr. Assists earned by Scott Duncan, Mike Lefort, Ian Garnett and Matt McGar- ry. Our only goal of the third period went to Matt Cracknell, assisted by Scott Duncan and Mike Wadsworth. The final out- come was Port Perry six, Uxbridge three. Port Perry also played a penal- ty free game showing their true sportsmanship.
