This Thursday night, Oct. 12 is euchre night again at Ashburn Commu- nity Centre at 8 p.m. The Ladies Bible Class will meet on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the home of Sheila Parrott in Ux- bridge. Fred and Peggy Ashton recently enjoyed a trip to Ottawa, accompanied by their sons Wayne and Pat Ashton and Alan and Nan- cy Ashton. Our congratu- lations to Fred and Peggy as they celebrate heir 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Al- drich from Victoria, B.C. have been visiting with his daughter Barb and Ray Porter and family and oth- er friends and relatives in the area and are returning home to B.C. this week. Arnold Ashton from To- ronto spent part of the Thanksgiving weekend with his parents Doug and Florence. As a family we enjoyed a most delicious Thanksgiving dinner at the Thunderbird Golf and Country Club on Sunday. Next Sunday the Burns congregation will be cele- brating the 146th Anni- versary. The show is entitled Of Birds, People and Places. Catherine Delhaise studied the basics of painting in Epinal and Paris, France. In 1976 she began painting professional- ly and in 1984 became an art teacher for the city of Oshawa. Her work figures in several collections including Durham College, the Oshawa General Hospital, the Oshawa Art Asso- ciation and the Centre Francophone in Toronto. Catherine belongs to The Oshawa Art Association where she held an executive position for five years. The Robert McLaughlin Art Gallery, Arts Scarbo- rough, The Visual Arts of Newcastle and the East Central Ontario Art Associa- tion. Her work was selected by several ju- ries for different shows in Oshawa, Whitby, Bowmanville and Toronto. Catherine has been "Samac Painter of the Year" and was awarded the Best Symbolic Entry at the Multicultural Council of Oshawa and District Contest.
