A variety of entertain- ers performed with Dixie- land band, country and western songs, comedy and a lovely hymn sing concluded the evening. Next week, Sept. 17, Harry Nitchie and Ethel Reilly playing gitar, vio- lins and banjo are on stage. Don Fines of Oshawa will be playing harmonica. Come and bring a friend to the show at 7:30 p.m. Free parking. The Scugog Shores Mu- seum will be having Sun- day evening musicals in the Museum Church on Scugog Island. (A small, white building just north of the old school museum) Sunday evenings until Nov. 5. A variety of entertain- ers perform including country singers, barber- shop quartets, instrumen- talists and comedians. A collection will be taken. Proceeds. go to help sup- port our local museum. Our profession has made great strides in its first 100 years, and continues to prove itself as a valid and necessary part of the health care system. We are thrilled that the Township of Scugog has taken pride in the fact that D.D. Palmer was born in Port Perry, and are pleased to be part of the festivi- ties on Sept. 17 in Palmer Park. Our society worked hard on the fundraising and re- furbishing of the Palmer monument in the park, and we are very proud to have successfully restored the monument to its former glory. The provincial Terry Fox foundation office has frequently used the exam- ple of the media coverage in Port Perry as an exam- ple of the importance of the media to promote local run sites. The committee mem- bers including Janice Beechey, Ken Crawford, Laura Elliott, Kim McCann, Leo Plue, Marjo- rie Stewart-Meadford, Kelvin Todd and Mary Lynn West-Moynes have been working hard to en- sure a great route, easy registration, a delicious barbecue and fun and en- tertaining activities for children. If you were one of the 420 people who participat- ed last year, we hope to see you again. This year, bring afriend! The total funds raised last year were almost $25,000 - this includes $16,000 raised on run day and almost $9,000 raised TOWNSHIP OF SCUGOG 1995-96-97 APPOINTMENTS The Council of the Township of Scugog invites applications from members of the public who are qualified electors in the Township of Scugog who wish to have their names considered for appointment to one of the following Boards and Commissions. Scugog Centre Advisory Board - requires one member to serve for the remainder of 1995,1996 and 1997. Scugog Hydro Commission - Scugog Youth Advisory Board - requires one member to serve for the remainder of 1995, 1996 and 1997. requires five members made up of one member from each of the 5 Wards in the Township of Scugog, under 25 years of age to serve for the remainder of 1995, 1996 and 1997.
