The dining room took on the appear- ance of a fin& dining estab- lishment. Each table was set with linen tablecloths, candles and lilacs. We were all entertained by our very own talented Grace Hadden on the pia- no. Residents were en- couraged to dress in their finest apparel and to greet everyone at the door. Es- corting everyone to their tables was Mayor Howard Hall. The lobster were brought to the nursing home by Jiggers of Oshawa and cooked on the premises. Along with the lobster, caesar salad and baked potatoes were served. Following this great meal a dessert trol- ley was presented with a variety of goodies. This evening is still the talk of the home. The comment was that they felt they had been to a place like the Royal York for dinner. On the eighth, a Lanta- na fashion show was held with the proceeds of the admission to the show go- ing to the Alzheimers' So- ciety. Models for the fash- ion show were members of the staff and volunteers. Without a doubt the hit of the show was "Crissy". Everyone agreed she did a fine job in modelling and were even surprised to dis- cover she does indeed have legs. On the ninth the event of the day was a trip to the Sky Dome to hear Billy Graham. Although unfor- tunately he was unable to be at the Sky Dome it was a most enjoyable trip. This year the annual B.B.Q. was held in Can- nington. A good time was had by all. The St. John's Choir paid a much appreciated visit on the seventh and on the 21st the Humming- bird dancers entertained. Celebrating birthdays in June are Helen Bower- man, George Kilpatrick, Lilian Horner, Lillian Harris and Rita Boe. Help- ing them to celebrate their special days were the Hon- eydale Women's Institute who hosted the birthday party on the 13th. Follow- ing the ever popular sing a long, tea, coffee and cup- cakes were served. Many thanks to the ladies for their involvement. A trip to Cadmus Coun- try Club on the 26th was most enjoyable. Residents enjoyed the trip through the.countryside as well as a fine meal. To end the month of June a luauis to be held on the 30th. A Calypso steel band will be in attendance as well as some of the resi- dents from Sunnycrest and Bestview Nursing Homes. Weather permit- ting the festivities will be held on the back lawn. The response from the community to help out fol- lowing the unfortunate robbery here at the Nurs- ing Home has been fantas- tic. It is very hard to ex- press how much the residents appreciate eve- ryone's concern. Once again thanks to everyone for their thoughtfulness. Celebrating birthdays in July are David Lawless (2), Beatrice Loates (7), May Swash (11), Jose- phine Archer (12), John Dodds (22), Verna Griffen (23), and Una Sleep on the 23rd.
