"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 4, 1995 - 11 -- I .ETTERS from o ur re aders -- Anne still offers sound words to live by To the Editor: While rummaging through some old papers the other day, I came across something that I thought I had lost. I was so happy to find it, and as I read it, again, it brought tears to my eyes. I remembered all the lit- tle children that had gone missing, and the horrors they must have lived in their last moments. And then this appeared in Anne Landers in October 1985, in the Toronto Star. I did not write it, but it's Stressed? . To the Editor: Herels a request for prayer. For the time being, I leave it to the reader what to pray for, what to pray about, and how to pray. essense has always been in my heart, and many times | have followed it's instructions. With summer coming, and children being more carefree, and creeps al- ways being creeps, no mat- ter what the season, I thought this should be re- printed. I know a lot of moms and dads will feel the same way I feel. IF YOU WATCH MINE If you watch my kid - son, daughter, niece, nephew or cousin --- I'll watch yours. .. Try working it out through prayer Just pray. Why? Because it's good for you, the world, the en- vironment, the communi- ty and the nation. The more we do it, the better off we'll be. eid Thanks to To the Editor: As parents of students in the Port Perry Montes- sori School, we would like to commend Ms. Laurie Wilson for the profession- al and exciting curriculum she provided this year. Ms. Wilson's mother, Car- ol Wilson also provided loving care in the extend- ed hours. Starting a new program in any community has its risks and we congratulate the Wilsons on meeting these challenges. Our children have bene- fitted from a varied and in- dividualized approach to school education. Creative and cooperative play were es- sential components in the daily classroom. We would like to sin- cerely thank the Wilsons for their excellent first year and we all look for- ward to next year with them. Joanne and Mike Ramsey, Mary-Anne and Gerry Deanike Ann and Bill Goddard, Janice and Mike Gilmour P.S. All the best on your wedding day, Laurie! If you see her walking or playing alone, keep an eye on her --- And I'll watch yours. If you see her frightened or fighting with an adult, wander over to hear if everything's okay --- And I'll watch yours. If you see her lost in a mall or store, notify some- one to make an announce- ment --- And I'll watch yours. If she's missing or tak- en, look for my kid --- And I'll look for yours. But if you don't want to Make the time for prayer. For most of us, this means making about five more minutes a day than we make right now. Pray each day, every day. Don't worry if you mi day. Just carry on the tday. Don't try to make up lost time or you'll get discou- raged. Well organized people set aside the same time every day: when they get up or after lunch or any regularly set time. Disor- ganized people also do this, but in not such an or- ganized fashion. Prayer actually saves busy people time. The rea- watch my kid, I'LL STILL WATCH YOURS The Anne Landers col- umn says that the woman who wrote this beautiful piece is named Barbara White of Orlando Florida. We all have a responsi- bility to keep the world safe for kids and if we all watch out, it will be a safer place for the innocent chil- dren. Have a safe and hap- py summer. Sincerely, Catharine Cote son? Prayer reduces stress, increases energy, sets priorities. Prayer also helps establish contact with God, who knows how things are intended to go and is willing to share this information with us. Prayer focuses our lives, minds, energy, and spirit on the important things, and off those things that don't matter and off those things that are downright harmful. So, please pray. And God bless you. Just how critical is this issue to human health, and the survival of the plant and animal kingdoms? How do scientists really know the extent of the damage? What can be done to stop the escalation of destruc- tion, and can we reverse the problem? "Ozone: Cancer of the Sky" is a fascinating and in- formative video produced by Television New Zea- lands Natural History Unit, and is available for ap- proximately $60. Scugog's Green Team is interested in purchasing this video and donating it to the Scugog Public Li- brary to make it accessable to educators, environ- mentalists, and concerned Earthlings.
