The opening weeks of the Midget schedule were not very good to the club, however, last Thursday things pulled together. Newmarket was the oppo- sition, and in the early in- nings jumped into a 4 to 0 lead. In the third inning, Port started to put things together, scoring two runs and shutting down the op- position. In the fourth inning, Port's offence went to work and scored five runs as the club batted through the order and showed spir- ited base running. Port scored four more runs, to goon toan 11-8 victory. Matt Kay pitched the entire game and was two for four at the plate, scor- ing one run. Glen Espie and Paul Linton led the of- fence with four hits each.
