Rabies Clinic at hall June 17 Grace Beacock attended a bni- dal shower in Oshawa at the home of Ron Wanamaker for Marilyn Moore of Port Perry. There was a reception held at the Prince Albert United Church for Karen Doyle and Darryl Linnington in honor of their forthcoming marriage. They were presented with a Bible from the UCW, a money tree and other gifts from the choir and the congregation. The wedding will take place on June 10,1995. There will be a Silent Auction on Nov. 10 so that you may do some of your Christmas shop- ping. The proceeds will go out to the Church. Keep that date in mind. Sympathy is extended to Lila Clark and her family on the passing of her brother Mel Hea- ryn. There were 15 tables at the euchre on Thursday evening. The winners were Audrey Ma- haffy, Minnie Martin, Helen Whosney, Don Geer, Elvin Spencer and James Emmerton. Other winners were Harry Hall, and Vera Fawns won twice. The lone hand winner was Hilton Anderson. There will be no eu- chre on June 8 because of the election. Please remember that there will be a rabies clinicon June 17 at the Prince Albert Hall. Cancer campaign nets $40,000 Nestleton Mabel Cawker The big news this week is the result of the Cancer Campaign 1995 for the Township of Scu- gog, which netted $40,752.05 - the best yet! A sincere thank you to our campaign chairper- son Doris Taylor for her long hours tabulating the receipts and looking after the funds! To the dedicated volunteers who have braved all kinds of weather, cross dogs, etc., and to the warm generous people of Scugog Township who were strong supporters of the cam- paign. You - one and all - are the backbone of the Cancer Society! Thanks also for all the free publicity during the campaign. Together - we can move moun- tains! Nestleton UCW The May meeting of the UCW was held at the home of Karen Yellowlees with 14 ladies present. Regenia Walker opened the meeting with a poem. The roll call was well answered. Joanna Malcolm presented a very con- structive idea for being alert, strong, and above all loving your neighbor. Joanna closed with a prayer - than all sang "Let There Be Peace". The business section was con- ducted by Janice MacKenzie - then Gwen Malcolm showed a video of New Zealand. A deli- cious lunch was seved by Karen, our hostess, and the meeting closed with the Mizpah Benedic- tion. A Special Event Before Christina Henderson returns home to Edinburgh, Scotland, five of us planned a Joyous little get together at the Cadmus Country Club with a delightful luncheon at the noon hour. After the meal, we pre- sented her with cards and gifts. She will be very much missed! Those present were her daugh- ter Chris Davis, an old friend Edda Bowman, Neta Fish and yours truly! Nestleton United Church On a rainy Sunday, May 28, seventh Sunday of Easter, Shir- ley Jackson and Donna Bronson were the friendly greeters at the door. Matthew Hill led the worship while Rev. David Shearman is at Bay of Quinte Conference. We appreciated Matthew's in- teresting message very much. Karen Yellowlees was the or- ganist. Scripture was read by Donna Bronson from Acts 16 and Responsive reading Psalm 97. The fine music was supplied by the Cartwright High School Choir. Thank you, friends, for your splendid music. Service closed with offertory, prayer - The Lord's Prayer, Commission, Benediction and singing "Until We Meet Again". Nestleton Presbyterian Church The congregation of Cadmus- Nestleton Presbyterian Church visited Cresswell Church on Sunday, May 28 at their 11:15 a.m. service. The re-dedication of the sanc- tuary after the re-construction of the church building was cele- brated with minister Rev. Nan. St. Louis in the pulpit, assisted by Rev. Wm. Fairley, speaker and Rev. Desmond Howard. A piano was also dedicated. Mu- sioc was provided by the Teen Choir, the Junior Choir and a trio singing "Bless This House". Organist was Mrs. Cathy Alli- son, and pianist Joan Wideman. Sarah Geissberger sang "Household of Faith" as a solo. Rev. Wm. Fairley spoke on "Surrounded by Grace". Refreshments and a social time were enjoyed in the Church Hall. Regular service will be at 11 a.m. in Nestleton Presbyterian on Sunday, June 4. Musicales | Scugog Islan Scugog Shores Museum The Sunday evening Musi- cales will continue at the Head Memorial Church at 7:30 p.m. during the month of June. The Second Annual Festi- val of Herbs will take place at the Scugog Shores Museum on June 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be guest speakers and their top- ics include "Growing and Us- ing Herbs"," First Aid Uses for Herbs", "Curing Allergies Naturally" and a "Tour of the Museum Herb Garden". The Women's Chorus will be singing on Father's Day and they will be practicing before the regular choir prac- tice at 6:45 p.m. Ladies please spread the word! The first practice will be on June 1. The Junior Choir has been busy practicing for Father's Day and Award Sunday and will meet again on Friday, June 2 at 4:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Youth Group will meet again on Friday, June 16 at 6 p.m. Please mark your calen- dars.
