Mr. Grossman doesn't have use for the boat any longer and he wanted help out the scouting program. Scout leader Kim King says that he'sgoing to learn how to sail now and then teach the scouts how. Scugog Island Women's Institute The Scugog Island Women's Institute will meet on Wednes- day, April 19 at 8 p.m. at the Is- land Hall. Please bring an arti- cle for the auction. This is also the Annual Meeting so annual reports are due as well as pay- ment of dues. Scugog Island United Church The congregation at Scugog Island enjoyed the Easter ser- vices over the weekend. We joined Manchester for the mov- ing Good Friday Service. A good crowd braved the early morning hour and weather for the Easter Sunrise Service at Scugog Is- land at 6 a.m. The sanctuary was decorated with beautiful memorial flowers and Easter balloons and our orchestra played while we gathered to cel- ebrate Easter together. Special music at Easter is al- ways rewarding, and this year we were not disappointed. Our orchestra and choir led us in our favorite Easter hymns. The choir's anthem called "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" was beautiful. We had another treat --- eM Pw eww ww moving old number called "I Know My Redeemer Liveth" with Michael Barber on the pia- no. Ian Finlay and Jason Wana- maker led us in the Easter Lit- urgy by lighting the Christ candle. The Worship and Music Com- mittee of the Pastoral Charge have been busy over the last few weeks helping Elaine plan our special Easter services. Thanks to all those who helped and par- ticipated in our Easter services making this Easter so special. The Lectionary Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Grace UCW will be going to the Villa to help residents cel- ebrate their birthdays on Tues- day, April 18 at 2 p.m. The High School Supper Club will meet on Tuesday, April 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. Choir practice will be held on Thuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Junior choir practice will be held on Friday, April 21 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Children Grade 1 and up are welcome to join us. The Youth Group will meet on Friday, Aptil 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.atS.1.U.C. Saturday, April 22 will be a busy day for our UCW groups. The Grace UCW will be holding their Hot Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scugog Island United Church. Florence Ashton continued in our Bible study on Psalm 42, vs. 3 and closed the meeting with prayer. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Euchre results are as follows: 12 tables were played. Ladies first prize Vi Cole, second Joan Fleming; mens first Hervey Painter; second Ray Hodson; lone hands Wilma Lynde and Kay Brown; door prize winners Art Budd and Lorne Crawford; share the wealth Art Budd and Grant Bright. Next euchre will be on April 27. Visiting over the Easter weekend with Lois Daw and Art and Anne Budd were Brian and Debbie Daw and daughters from Woodstock. Bert and Ruth Wood have re- turned home after spending the winter months in Florida. Marion Slater enjoyed a two- week trip to northern Alberta visiting her husband who has recently been employed there. Marion returned home last week. It was nice that the weather was sunny but cool for all the holiday activities. Sunday morning started out with a brisk walk from the church to the Cemetery Hill west of Greenbank for the East- er Sunrise Service. The Youth Group were in charge and then served muffins and coffee back at the church. Easter service at Greenbank Church was well attended and all were inspired hy the beauti- ful music and wofship' service. Hugh Baird, a lovely solo "Were You There" and Peter Stone, playin his violin, accompanied inda Hunter on the organ and his mother Betty Stone playing the piano for the singing of the hymns. Next Sunday is Earth Day and will include prayers for the environment. he Sunday School choir will also sing. John and Madeline McCabe of the "Chicken Coop" were very pleased with the entries in the children's Easter coloring con- test.
