Saturday night the Pine Ridge Garden Club held their super duper dinner and I might add everyone was well pleased and well fed. Money received goes into the Park Improve- ment Fund. For the past two years we have held a baseball game in Nestleton's Mal- colm Park between the Durham Police Associa- tion and the Scugog Fire- fighters Association and we now feel we have a good park of our own and should make more use of it. This year, on June 10, we are staging a volleyball and horseshoe tourna- ment between the police, firefighters and the gener- al public, so get your teams together. We want this to be a family day. There is park playground equipment for ages two to 12 years. We have a junior baseball dia- mond for youth who might fall between the play- ground and the volleyball, orseshoe age groups. So you can see fun for all. Police have confirmed the challenge and I'm sure the firefighters will also. I think you'll agree we need a closer alliance between the police and - general public of all ages in these troubled times. At the Hall Board meet- ing, we confirmed a Cana- da Day celebration for June 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the hall, staged by Hall Board, Regatta and Fire- fighters. This is a matter of each family chipping in $5 to make a master dis- play of fireworks to cele- brate our proud country's birthday. Think what can you buy for $5 in the fire- works line.
