"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 28, 1995 - 9 I FTTERS Members who share a little, care a little To the Editor: Can you spare a little, share a little and care a little? Schoolhouse Playcare Cen- tres of Durham, a nonprofit child care organization is cur- rently seeking new members for their board of directors. As we enter our 11th year of providing quality child care within 14 cen- tres located in schools through- out Durham Region, from Pick- ering to Port Perry, we need the participation of members of our community. Board of directors positions would be of interest to those with backgrounds in child care, finance, marketing and human resources. Prospective applicants must be at least 18 years of age. If you can spare a little, share a little and care a little we would love to make use of your talents. Remember children are our future! Fax your letter of interest to: President of Schoolhouse Play- care Centres, Fax (905) 831- 6942. Joan Lambie, Whitby, Ont. Inconsiderate snowmobilers waste valuable time of others To the Editor: There's nothing like spring and the sound of birds singing, but late last Saturday afternoon the sound of snowmobiles overwhelmed the sound of birds. While down by the lake observing the mess Mother Nature left us, with the shoreline heaved, I heard the sound of snowmobiles coming my way. I truly thought I was hearing things! I stood still a little longer and sure enough three sleds flew by, I was stunned! Which part don't they understand? Mild weather or the word spring? It appears their heads were thicker than the ice that day, but I'm glad that nobody was injured. We have two sleds ourselves, they may not be in the $7,000 range, but we respect them and the elements of nature and property. What upsets me the most is that the rescue team including police, fire- fighters and ambulance wasted valuable time and our taxpayers money on absolute foolishness. I would like to see the township pass a law and charge people like this for their wrecklessness. Why should my tax dollar fund such nonsense? It's bad enough that a lot of people are fed up with the inconsider- ation of some sled drivers, but guys, in incident like this just gives us, the considerate "sled people," another bad rap! : P.S. Please. I hope you drive your boat this summer with more common sense. : Name withheld Sexuality From Page 8 sexual equipment for procrea- tion and family bonding, and then compel him or her to use it in a way for which He clearly did not design it? God would have to have a streak of per- verse cruelty in His nature, something I have never found in Him. Homosexuality is too asym- metrical with heterosexuality to call it 'alternate but equal.' Somewhere, somehow, normal sexuality gets confused with normal homophilic feelings. This confusion gets confirmed by choice, circumstance or hab- it, and a homosexual is made. I feel that Ms. Voth's view tar- nishes the beauty of the Crea- tor's designs.
