On Dec. 6 the members of the Pine Ridge Garden Club and their families met at the Nestleton Hall for their an- nual Christmas pot luck din- ner and awards night. A local group, Swing Tyme Melodies, was the entertain- ment following dinner. Special guests were Anne Bourke, First Vice President, Ontario Horticultural Asso- ciation and Jill Chappel, As- sistant District Director, who presided over the elec- tion of officers. Grace Bajema was award- ed the Analda Trophy for most points over all and the Newton Trophy for most points cultural. The Lillian Smith Trophy was awarded to Tettje Prins for most points for design. The John Kingstone Memorial Trophy Pine Ridge salutes champions for most points for gladioli was awarded to Grace Baje- ma. The geranium prizes were awarded to Tettje Prins and Tina Wolters. The winners of the month- ly competition, a Christmas table centre made with fresh materials, were first - Mar- liese Hassler, second - Mar- garet Trull and third Fran Binns. The winners of the door prizes were Angela Willis, Marliese Hassler, Rie Hooge- veen and Jill Chappel. The garden club is plan- ning a bus trip to the Canadi- an Garden and Flower Show on March 30. At 5:15 p.m. a black male en- tered the Mac's Milk Store at 893 Bayly Street using the east doors. He purchased a Lotto 649 ticket from the cashier and then asked for some Chap-Stick. The cashier helped the man locate the item and then after paying for it the suspect leaned forward and told the cashier, "hand over all your money."
