With a little help from the post, Nick scored -- tying the game at two. Port Hope came right back to score. Greg Bruton came up with some clean and solid checking. Port Hope ended the second period on a screened shot from the blue line making the score 4-2. In the third period, Port Hope scored early on a power play. Great team effort by our Port Perry team. Our next home game is Oct. 28 at 9:15 p.m. against Stouff- ville - see you there!! Saturday morning PHL ac- tion saw Emiel's and Big V face off in their first meeting of the year. Matt McGarry put Big V on the board first after a nifty set-up by Billy Carr. Less than four minutes later, Jeremy Hall bulged the twine with an unassisted marker to tie the match at 1-1. Before the first period ended Big V notched three goals (MeGarry from Tim Wray, Bill Carr - unassisted, Todd Mitch- ell - unassisted) to move in front by a score of 4-1. It was a good day for Big V sharpshoot- ers as they peppered Shaun Martin in the cage during the Peewee house league second and third periods. Al- though not as busy as Martin, Big V goaltender Eric Bird made some key stops early to prevent Emiel's from grabbing the go-ahead marker. Matt McGarry finished off the game with two more goals and two assists, Matt Crack- nell notched a pair of goals, Billy Carr added two addition- al markers and one assist, Tim Wray chipped in a goal and two assists, Mike Gianinni and Steven Schewaga each netted a single marker. There's lots of hockey left fel- las, keep up the good work! DJ TAYLOR G.1.C. ried the play for the rest of the INSURANCE BROKERS LTD.
