Unfortunately, the Township has been faced with a serious problem of littering and needless waste in these areas. In an effort to combat this prob- lem, the Township has initiated a pilot project in conjunction with the Ministry of the Envi- ronment and Energy operating under the Environmental Youth Corps (EYC), the project is entitled "Park Recycling and Waste Education". The environmental issue that needs to be addressed is "Re- source Conservation". This can be achieved mainly through di- verting recyclable materials from landfill. All waste that is discarded in the township is placed in general waste barrels. The goal of this project is two- fold. First, an attempt will be made to initiate on-site recy- cling using containers in parks specifically designed for recy- cling. The public are encour- aged to make use of these recep- tacles.
