The evening will conclude with the colorful high- way tractors. Saturday evening's program will feature the modified 4x4s, the vintage classes, the light pro-stock, the stock tractors of various sizes, and the exciting modified tractors. Since the 1970s, the use of firearms in crime has decreased 14% (Statistics Canada). Legal firearms are not the problem. A recent Ontario survey found that the vast majority of guns used in crime are smuggled from the U.S. (Ontario Solicitor General). Meanwhile, the average sentence for violent offenders is only 59 days (Statistics Canada). PRIME MINISTER JEAN CHRETIEN: "What Canadians want and we have to provide is tough action (on gun control)." IN FACT: A recent Gallup survey found that only 709 of Canadians feel tougher restrictions on legal firearms owners would NOT impact on crime. Further, 88% want tougher sentences for criminals. Don't be fooled! When politicians promise tougher restrictions on legal firearms owners, they aren't solving the problem. Canadians need to insist on crime control, 'not legal gun control.
